ELS Pro

How do I authenticate an ELS Pro?

ANSWER:
Sequence: Click the tab “Wireless authentication” in cylinder device management. Press the button “Authentication -> ELS Pro” and present the master card to the device. Following two green flashes, hold the RF wake-up card in front of the electronic knob. If the message “Authentication successful” appears, the cylinder has been authenticated.  Then get the cylinder version via the tab General  and Get date time orSet date time  to check  (works automatically from software V5.3)

When do I need an EE (Emergency Exit) cylinder?

ANSWER:
This cylinder has a spring in the body assembly which always resets the locking catch to 0° (6 o'clock position) so that the lock cannot block. This cylinder is used for emergency exits as per DIN EN 179 and 1125 (e.g. doors with push bar).

What do I have to do to replace the body assembly/electronic body on an ENiQ Pro or ELS Pro?

ANSWER:
When ELS Pro electronics à Pro electronics/ body assembly are/is to be replaced, the cylinder master card must be deleted manually.

1.     Delete the master card using the following steps:
1.1   Remove knob cap
1.2   Unplug battery
1.3   Position the master card in the cylinder reading field
1.4   Insert the battery and leave the master card in the reading field until the cylinder flashes red and green alternately
1.5   Unplug the battery again
1.6   Remove the cylinder from the reading field of the master card
1.7 Reconnect the battery
       Note for control: the cylinder now flashes with blue flashing when a transponder is held in front of it (as with an RF alarm card).
1.8  Coupling by means of ENiQ device management

2.     Electronics and body assembly must not be separated and replaced before this has happened; they can then be initialised with a master card again or coupled via Device Management.

Important:
Electronics and body may only be disconnected/connected when they are in a de-energised state

ELS Protector

ELS Protector displays a low battery warning again directly after the battery has been replaced.

ANSWER 1:
Hold a transponder in front of the cylinder so that a release or a non-authorised transponder is signalled. Remove the battery, wait briefly then re-insert. The cylinder should then carry out a reset and reboot after a short wait; this is indicated by it flashing green 3 times. If the cylinder flashes red 3 times, the cylinder date and time must be re-programmed using the software.

ANSWER 2:
The battery states can be reset using the ELSmobile software (Service report) and thus force battery replacement.

How can I change an existing ELS Protector into an ELS Pro cylinder in the software?

ANSWER:
The device/cylinder must be set to inactive in the tab General under Status so that the new serial number of the ELS Pro can be entered. When the change is confirmed the software automatically recognises that an ELS Pro cylinder is involved.

Note:  The change function of a Protector into another Protector-type (Pro, Guardian, Guardian S or ACM) without new authorisation assignment or loss of authorisation data is possible from ELS Version 5.3R1 onward.

ELS RF NetManager

What is the procedure for replacing an ELS RF NetManager by an Online system?

ANSWER:

1.        Deactivate the cylinder or the device in the software and cancel the connection to the line server (“Properties – Line Server”).
2.        Reset RF NetManager completely (keep the micro-switch pressed for longer than 6 seconds)
3.        Install the new RF NetManager
4.        Configure IP settings for the device
5.        Check the configuration (run through / connection test)
6.        Activate the device à device is then automatically connected to the line server

ELS Software

The infrared stick is no longer working after Windows Update has installed new updates/patches.

ANSWER:

  • Open Device Manager (Windows Start menu – Control Panel – Device Manager)
  • Open the infrared stick (Profilic USB to Serial Adapter) under 'Connections' (COM and LPT) and right-click this to open the context menu
  • Click “Update driver software”
  • Search for driver software on the computer
  • Select the corresponding driver from the year 2008 from the list of device drivers
  • Apply settings and save

How can the ELS software be updated from version 4 to version 5?

ANSWER:
Install ELS Software V5.X without specifying the licence and then start once as the administrator. You will find the program Import.exe in the installation directory. Execute this program and enter the path where the previous database is stored. Through this, the data are automatically loaded to the ELS 5.X software.

Note: User passwords become unusable following import and the software must be started by the DOM user using the standard password.

Caution:

When changing from a computer with a 32-bit operating system to one with a 64-bit system, the new software must be installed on the 32-bit computer first. Import the database there first. Now the ELS V5.X database can be transferred to the new (64-bit) computer. Following installation of the software on the new computer, the database transferred to 64-bit can be copied to the installation directory.

The ELS Software constantly sends the error message “Timeout”.

ANSWER:
The COM port of the infrared stick must be configured correctly in the ELS software:

Device data -> Communication connections -> set the correct COM port and select ACT-IR 220L+. Before programming, the version of the ELS Protector or ELS Pro must be read out (“Get version/battery?”).

Does the ELS software V5.X also work with every full version of SQL Anywhere?

ANSWER:
No, up to V5.0 only with SQL Anywhere 11 and SQL Anywhere 12.
From ELS software V5.3 it works with SQL 10; SQL 11 and SQL12! It is always advisable to update the SQL version as well.

Which error code stands for evaluation error “7” in the ELS software?

ANSWER:
Wrong licence code for this ELS software version à Please have the licence number checked via system no. and version.

Which error code stands for “no reply to the command sequence” for an ELS Protector BS in the ELS software?

ANSWER:

1.        The internal electronics are not installed properly.
2.        The connection from the external electronics to the internal electronics is faulty or damaged.
3.        The internal electronics was not mounted until after initialisation and authentication.

Can I manage ELS and ENiQ products in one software?

ANSWER:
No, this is not possible. These systems can only be managed separately.

Why does the intelligent transponder management not work properly?

ANSWER:
With intelligent transponder management, authorisations are written to the transponder.  If a new area or weekplans – in the ELS software time plans – are added, for example, the transponder/locking medium must be reprogrammed on the desktop reader or ENiQ ACM-ITT/ ELS ITT.

Note: Prepare reserve areas/time plans/weekplans at the beginning (add intelligent reserve devices in addition to the areas for ELS only).

Which data are deleted/reset during reset (presentation three times) of the master card?

ANSWER:
All conventional authorisations are reset; special cards, programming cards and all softwares are deleted.

CAUTION
Intelligent transponders still work at this device, since the device retains its time profiles and ID received from the software and the intelligent authorisations are stored in the respective transponder.

ELS/ENiQ Locking and Programming Devices

What is intelligent and what is conventional transponder management?

ANSWER:
With intelligent transponder management, authorisations are written to the transponder. The device only knows its identification.

With conventional management, the authorisations are written to the device. The closing medium is only given its identification.

Can I use a transponder from a different system for the DOM locking system?

ANSWER:
One or more of these transponders must be sent into the DOM Sicherheitstechnik GmbH plant. There, a check is carried out to see if the transponders are suitable for the DOM electronic locking system and whether they can be used. This check may involve additional costs.

Can I program the other ELS products (ELS Guardian, ELS ACM etc.) using the radio stick as well?

ANSWER:
No, this is not possible. However, in future other ELS products should be able to be programmed by radio signal. Exact dates are not known yet. ELS/ENiQ Wall Reader & Terminals

Which voltage supply do the ELS/ENiQ wall readers need?

ANSWER:
The devices ELS/ENiQ Access Manager, ELS/ENiQ Access Manager Terminal and ENiQ AccessManager ITT need a 12-24V AC/DC voltage supply. With online systems, the devices can be supplied via PoE (in the case of a HiSec unit only the controller with PoE, the passive reader always requires an external power source).

Can an ELS AccessManager type 36 communicate with a passive reader type 33?

ANSWER:
No, this is not possible due to the firmware used and the configuration done in the factory. Communication is only possible between typesà 32 and 31; 34 and 33; 36 and 35.

Why does the ENiQ Access Manager-Terminal not extend the validity of the intelligent authorisation to the locking medium although participation has been activated for the locking medium?

ANSWER:
The ACM-Terminal groups are deactivated under “System”. Activate the respective groups in order to write the extension of the validity to a locking medium via the terminal.

Why does the ENiQ Access Manager-ITT not write the validity of the intelligent authorisation to the locking medium although participation has been activated for the locking medium?

ANSWER:
The ENiQ ACM-ITT is offline, which means only times are extended, but no new authorisations are written. Set the respective ACM-ITTs to ONLINE in order to write changes of the authorisations onto the locking mediums.

ELSmobile Software

ELSmobile demands the installation -CD when the desktop icon starts. How can this be remedied?

ANSWER 1:
Delete the desktop icon (link symbol) and save a new link to ELSmobile50.exe from the installation directory on your desktop.

or

ANSWER 2:
Install the software again with administrator rights.

ENiQ Access Management Software

The installation of the ENiQ AccessManagement software could not be installed properly on a computer. How can this be remedied?

ANSWER 1: Copy the SQL-database file (standard: GENIUS.mdf) to a different directory (e.g. Desktop). Deinstall the existing ENiQ AccessManagement software completely. Then install the MS SQL Server first.

Then carry out installation of the ENiQ AccessManagement software. Deselect hacking for SQL Server and SQL Server tools. Then follow the rest of the installation instructions.

ANSWER 2:
If the operating system does not permit installation of the SQL Server (e.g. SQL 2008 R2 under Windows 8.1), download the SQL Server in a more recent version (e.g. SQL 2014) and install it.

Is your desktop reader no longer working with a Client Server solution of ENiQ AccessManagement Software?

ANSWER:
Compare the system time (time of day) of the Server and the Client computer. If there are several seconds difference between Server and Client, the desktop reader goes into error mode. Correct the system times (times of day) by comparing these. If in doubt, the Client should be minimally ahead. In addition, the services (Slave on the Client and/or Master on the Server) may no longer be running, in which case they must be rebooted.

To reboot services:
Windows Start button -> Execute -> enter “services.msc” in the field and confirm by pressing Enter -> look for “DOM ...” services and right-click “Restart”

How can temporary release (permanently open) be made possible in the ENiQ AccessManagement software by presenting a normal transponder once?

ANSWER:
Open the respective device in the ENiQ AccessManagement software and display Properties. Under the tab Special function there must be a weekplan with the time during which the function is to be executed saved under Weekplan temporary release. Then set the waiting time for the second presentation of the closing medium under the tab Special function Parameters by entering the value 0 and then reprogramming the devices via Device Management.

Does your ENiQ AccessManagement Software report “No desktop reader assigned”?

ANSWER: After the desktop reader has been connected to the computer via USB, this reader must be assigned to the user who is to be working with it.

System -> Operator -> Edit operator -> Configuration -> Assigned desktop reader -> select the desktop reader connected here.

Note: Where there are several workstations, users taken their desktop reader with them (assigned via user in the software and not dependent on the computer)

What has to be done or taken into account when the error message “FileFormatError” occurs in the ENiQ AccessManagement software in connection with the desktop reader? What does this error mean?

ANSWER:
In this case incorrect keys have been written onto the transponder. This transponder might not be able to be used any more and must be sent to the manufacturer for rectification; please contact your specialist dealer in this case. Then the desktop reader must be reset and the desktop reader service (Slave service) started again. Then test the function again please.

Note: Please find out whether there is a current software update available. Install this if necessary.  

Why does installation of the ENiQ AccessManagement software abort during creation of the database?

ANSWER:

1.   The sa password has not been selected in accordance with the password guidelines of Windows guidelines (sa password too easy or too difficult)
2.   Firewall and anti-virus program may possibly be influencing installation

What does the term sa password mean in the ENiQ AccessManagement software?

ANSWER:
The sa password protects the SQL database and authorises access for this user. This password must not be confused with the login password for the software. The sa password must be wisely chosen and stored carefully.

Can I manage ELS and ENiQ products in one software?

ANSWER:
No, this is not possible. These systems can only be managed separately.

Why does the intelligent transponder management not work properly?

ANSWER:
With intelligent transponder management, authorisations are written to the transponder.  If a new area or weekplans – in the ELS software time plans – are added, for example, the transponder/locking medium must be reprogrammed on the desktop reader or ENiQ ACM-ITT/ ELS ITT.

Do I have to enter master data in the ENiQ AccessManagement software?

ANSWER:
No, this is not necessary for authorisation to be assigned.

In the “Create new locking medium” wizard, do new master data or new persons have to be entered in step 1 of the ENiQ AccessManagement software?

ANSWER:
No, as long as the checkmark is set next to “Authorise locking medium directly” you can jump to the next field by clicking “Continue”

Note: Anonymous is shown in the last window, but the name originally entered for the locking medium remains.

and

ANSWER:
If persons or master data are entered, the name of the locking medium is changed at the same time.

Recommendation: We recommend entering master and personal data. Software functions which may be added later can be used solely or significantly better with master and personal data.

Which template is the optimum choice for my intelligent transponders in the ENiQ AccessManagement software?

ANSWER:
The template should be selected on the basis of system size or possible extensions. However, a larger template also results in a longer writing and reading time at the terminals.

Notes: A template that has been activated and used once can no longer be changed.

Note: Authorisation for individual units = individual authorisations
            Authorisation for whole areas = group authorisations

Does the master card have to be integrated/programmed in the ENiQ AccessManagement software?

ANSWER:
No. However it is recommended. If the ENiQ AccessManagement software is not accessible for programming, programming can be carried out directly at the device using the master card.

Note: If the PC becomes faulty and a new installation should become necessary, the software keys would not be saved on the previously integrated master card. For this, all that is necessary is for the master card to be read in after installation.

What does the system ID stand for in the areas of the ENiQ-AccessManagement software?

ANSWER:
The different system IDs are needed to guarantee a distinction for authorisations in an intelligent system of the ENiQ AccessManagement software.

Which data are deleted/reset during reset (presentation three times) of the master card?

ANSWER:
All conventional authorisations are reset; special cards, programming cards and all softwares are deleted.

CAUTION

ENiQ Pro

Are you having to replace your ENiQ Pro body because it is the wrong length?

ANSWER:
Open ENiQ Device Management and select the corresponding device. Then click “decouple”. The electronics can then be dismounted and mounted on the new body. Then integrate and couple the new device into the software via Device Management. You can now replace the old device by the new one.

Where can I read out events which have occurred at the ENiQ Pro?

ANSWER:
The device must be programmed using Device Management or through “online programming” via the RF NetManager in the case of an online system. During the programming process, the events are read out and can then be read out in the ENiQ AccessManagement software under Events.

Why can I not program then ENiQ Pro Online by radio signal via Device Management ?

ANSWER:

1.    The respective ENiQ RF NetManager is still in operation and thus interrupts the radio connection. Disconnect the RF NetManager from the voltage supply if possible.
2.    There is a problem with the radio antenna of the ENiQ Pro or the radio stick. Try this case out again with a different cylinder or device and exclude it if possible (fault localisation)
